ZigBee 3.0 compatibility?
Hi, perhaps a very quick yes/no question, but hopefully there’s more to it than that….
Is it in any way possible to add (pair) an arbitrary ZigBee 3.0 device the Legrand Valena Home+Control network? Let’s begin with something simple; Smart Lights.
I know that Ledvance and Phillips Hue is listed as compatible, but what about IKEA devices? IKEA’s devices are widely acceptable, available world wide, low cost, high quality – can they be used? If not, where is the limitation? Is it technical difficulties or is it just a business decision?
(hoping for a Yes) 😊
Hello Oyvind,
All Z3.0 devices can’t be linked to the Legrand Gateway. For example : a switch from another brand. The only possible thing is to link Z3.0 devices (Legrand and from other brands) to a third-party Z3.0 compatible hub. But of course, you will loose the possibility to manage Legrand devices via Home + Control app in this case
Concerning Z3.0 lights – as we are not a lighting manufacturer – we try to make it work in the Legrand network and Home + Control app for the majority of them. It’s a bit difficult because of the differences of lights behavior between the different manufacturers
We did some tests on Ikea Z3.0 lights :
Ikea | Tradfri LED1736G9 | Seems OK but possible integration problems |
Ikea | LED16223G12 | Seems OK but possible integration problems |
Ikea | LED1624G9 | OK |
Ikea | Tradfri LED1732G11 | OK |
Ikea | Tradfri LED1925G6 | OK |
Ikea | Driver LED Tradfri 50356187 | NOK |

Many thanks for your reply, Leslie.
If I wanted to test some IKEA lights – how do I do that? By selecting Ledvance, or by selecting Phillips Hue?
I haven’t found any other possible options in the Home + Control App.

Hi again,
In Home + Control app when you go in the Zigbee 3.0 “Other devices” section, you’ll just have to click on the “Connected lighting” section and it will launch the association process. Ledvance and Phillips are just brand examples

Sorry, I can’t understand, NOK is a NO or a OK? next to driver. Cause I’m interested in that specific device

Just a feedback. On my side, IKEA Tradfri Driver is well paired with the Legrand Gateway and I’m able to manage brightness and ON/OFF.

IKEA have several “drivers” – which one do you have?
Also, when you say you can control brightness, are you refering to the Home&Control App or some other automation platform?

Yes I mean control it in the Home&Control app (I paired them with the Legrand Switch Hub).

For the driver, I have both 10W and 30W. I bought them 4 months ago.

For the 10W : Ikea Tradfri Driver 503.561.87 (https://www.ikea.com/fr/fr/p/tradfri-transformateur-electrique-connecte-connecte-gris-50356187/)

For the 30W : Ikea Tradfri Driver 603.426.56 (https://www.ikea.com/fr/fr/p/tradfri-transformateur-electrique-connecte-connecte-gris-60342656/)

What exactly do you mean by “the Legrand Switch Hub”? Do you have a link? The only gateways I find online are the original “Legrand/Bubendorf Diamond Gateway” and the “Netatmo Radiant® Smart Gateway”.
Do you mean any of those?

Yes it’s the Diamond Gateway (see attached photo). The link : https://www.legrand.fr/pro/catalogue/pack-de-demarrage-dooxie-with-netatmo-pour-installation-connectee-1-prise-et-1-commande-sans-fils-blanc-sans-plaque

To pair the IKEA driver to the Diamond, just had to reset IKEA Driver and put in in pairing mode (by pressing the reset button 6 seconds) and for the Legrand part, just follow the instruction in the app.

Yes, that’s the Bubendorff iDiamond Gateway which is custom made for Netatmo/Legrand and sold under various product names. This Legrand Web site clearly describes the GateWay as a ZigBee HUB:
600670B Control dooxie with Netatmo Pack for Connected Installation with 1 x 2P+T 16A Socket – White – Professional | Legrand

But have you tried pairing a regular dimmable IKEA light bulb?
The problem I have is that pairing these devices with the Home&Control App works mostly ok, but using the Netatmo integration for Home Assistant fails to provide anything but basic on/off. Dimming isn’t available at all.

Hi Oyvind & Romain,
If I may permit to add some information :
- The Legrand/Bticino gateway is the one you talked previously with an electrical plug and the “diamond shaped” hub. It also exists as a plug&play device (to be plugged in a classical electrical plug) and also as a module to be installed in an electrical cabinet. This gateway is ZigBee 3.0 compatible. So, it will work with the Home + Control app if you link any Z3.0 bulb from any brand
- The iDiamant gateway can ONLY be used to manage Bubendorff shutters via the Home + Control app. It’s NOT a ZigBee 3.0 gateway and you can’t use it as a hub for a Home + Control (Magellan) installation with switches and plugs

I think that’s not entirely correct Leslie.
As far as I know, my apartment has the iDiamond Gateway installed. Please tell me if there’s a safe way to determine the exact model I have as I may be mistaken.
It was preinstalled by the builder. Here is how it looks:
https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Legrand-Netatmo-Wireless-Switchable-752196/dp/B08YCYL4V7

I use the Home&Control App to communicate with it, and it controls my shutters as well as a number of Legrand entities. I have also paired IKEA, Ledvance and Hue devices and it works mostly ok in the App, but not so well in Home Assistant. I depends on wheather I use the Netatmo integration or the Apple HomeKit integration. The result isn’t always stable or predictable but on/off seems to work, at least.

Hi Oyvind,
The device you have is indeed the Legrand/Bticino gateway
The “iDiamant with Netatmo” is this one : https://www.legrand.fr/pro/catalogue/passerelle-bubendorff-idiamant-with-netatmo-a-enficher-sur-1-prise-de-courant-blanc. It only permits to manage Bubendorff’s roller shuters. It can’t be use as a hub to pair Legrand’s connected plugs/switches or to add any 3rd party ZigBee 3.0 light bulbs
