Help to understand Netatmo Control exported data

Hi there!

i got some legrand with Netatmo devices in my electrical panel (branded BTicino, i’m italian) as energy meter, gateway, contactors. All is working since 2 years ago and all works fine. I keep trace of electrical consumptions with iOS app and connecting to https://home.netatmo.com/control

Btw i would export data from netatmo website, and there is a function to do it, but i do not understand the values in the downloaded xls/csv file.

Example of yesterday 12/09/2023: I attached screens of Netatmo Control page where you can read i consumed 16,64 kWh and screen of XLS file downloaded:

– in this file what column “sum_energy_elec” mean?

– summing all values in this column i got 2606…what is this value?

– where i can find in this file 16,64 kWh??

thanks in advance, i’m looking for this since long time 🙁

Hello Francesco,

sum_energy_elec and $0 $1 $2 parameters correspond to the total amount of electricity consumption in the asked date range

sum_energy_elec = Cumulated energy consumption during the scale time period in case there is no electricity contract

sum_energy_elec$0/1/2 = Cumulated energy consumption during the scale time period in case there is an electricity contract :

  • $0 in case of a basic tariff (always the same tariff )
  • $1 for peak time periods
  • $2 for off-peak time periods

The value in your Excel file is expressed in Wh

For me the daily amount displayed in the app is correct (it’s more logical regarding a normal home consumption). If we do the calculus from the value in the Excel file it would mean a 2.6KWh consumption. I don’t see how these 2 numbers are related

I need to discuss it with teams, I have the feeling that the Excel file displays the instant consumption in order to display the value of total consumption in the last 30 minutes

I’ll tell you once I know more

Exactly…I have never been able to understand the connection between the values shown by the app/webapp (and they are absolutely exact because I compare them regularty with those of the energy distributor) and those of the excel file.

I think too that value shown in the excel are the instant power detected at that moment, and this is absolutely useless data.

Btw i hope to get news asap

PS: would be great if it were possibile add 1 hour interval for data export 😀

any news Leslie?

Hello Francesco,

We discussed a bit about it, the call done seems “correct” but it’s maybe a date_begin/scale issue in the file. We need to investigate more

But how did you manage to generate this Excel file ? On my side with https://home.netatmo.com/control I can’t do it

Hello Francesco,

I performed some more tests on my side and discussed with teams

I think that this export only shows :

  • what is measured by the energy meter (so, the “rest of the house” part won’t appear)
  • the instant consumption registered by the module and not the total (so, you get an average instant consumption)

Can you do an extract on 1 day for the 12 september ? Do you get 2606 still or above 8650 ?

Can you also send a screenshot of what you have by clicking on “dispositivi” ?

I confirm that 16.64KwH is the exact consumption as it comes from the energy meter module + the rest of the house

hello Leslie

yes you are right! In sum_energy_elec$0 column it display only “Other appliances” consumption.

I do not know why but i can’t export 12 september data (i can set begin date 12 september but i can’t select end date before 02 october).

Btw i exported data for 02 October and screenshots of all tabs…and sum_energy_elec$0 column sum is 1821 Wh as shown in “other applicance” tab.

so the question is…how can we solve this? 😀

Hi Leslie,

sorry to be me again. I’ve written up a whole blog post on my experiences with Legrand gateway and it covers this issue and what it seems to measure and show.

If you are interested:

https://practicalhomekit.blogspot.com/2023/04/home-energy-management.html

It’s towards the bottom.

you hit the target! it’s exactly what they talking about here…i’m tired to report all datas manually 😀

Hi Leslie,

do you have any update about this “bug”?

Thanks

Hi Francesco,

Yes and no … Netatmo devs are working on a new version of the webapp (my.netatmo) but I didn’t get a clear answer to know if they will change the data export behavior during it

I recently re-sent a message directly to the persons in charge of this project to explain that in this state, the export tool is useless because it does not meet at all the user’s needs

I hope it will make them move on that subject !

@Siobhan I didn’t answer you, but for your information I internally shared your blog article to relevant contacts 😉

Have a good day,
