Hue Lights are not responsive in Control+ but I can control them in HomeKit
I’m having a very weird situation.
Every now and then (Don’t you love intermittent problems?) my Hue lights, which are mostly lightstrips, go unreachable in HomeKit.
When I look at them in the Control+ app, I can’t use the lights at all.
However, if I go to the Apple Home App, and adjust the light level, they become reachable in both apps.
This suggests that the connection is, indeed, working between my gateway and the hue lightstrip but, for some weird reason, the correct status is not known until I play with the light.
I’ve now added pics
902 is Control+ showing the lights. Specifically look at Master bedroom
903 is showing the light in Apple Home. You can see it is unreachable
904 is me adjusting the light in Apple Home
905 is showing the light as being reachable in Apple Home
I’ll add 906 in next reply, which shows the light now available in Control +
Hi Siobhan,
Indeed it’s strange … I didn’t have any similar feedback
As far as I know I don’t see any problem in your installation (unless the 4-scene switch in the hall that is unreachable, but it can’t provoke a problem like this). And your gateway is up and running for more than 6 days
Do you still had this issue in the last 6 days ? If yes, I’ll write an internal ticket for investigation

Hi Leslie,
just had it right now.
Light Strip in my Master bedroom. 17th May 13:44 British Summer Time.
Same with Utility Room and Study.
In all cases, these are Hue Lightstrips, not bulbs.
Hello Siobhan,
Indeed it looks like a communication issue between Apple’s system and our gateway. I opened an internal ticket
Just for precision : the bug only impacts your Zigbee Hue lights ? Your plugs/contactor still remain reachable ?

Yes, the bug ONLY impacts my Zigbee Hue Lights and, I think, my Lightstrips in particular. I don’t have much Hue left as have mostly replaced with Nanoleaf and Wiz.
Hello Siobhan,
I discussed it with the developers. They managed to reproduce it on a test installation
In their tests, the bulb appears in error in Home + Control app (with a red banner on the top of the app). They click on it and then on the “retry” button and it seems to work back correctly. They also “fixed” it with a manual screw/unscrew of the bulb
Anyway, it seems to come from the most global HK communication issue we have randomly with the gateway. They added your usecase to the global investigation around this
Have a good day,

Hi Lesley,
Thanks, in future, I know that I can do the retry in the Home+ Control app.
However, I don’t understand how this is pointing to being an issue with your integration with HomeKit. The problem here, partly, is that Home+ Control, or maybe the gateway, is showing the light is unreachable when, in fact, it is reachable.
That has nothing to do with HomeKit.
Obviously me trying something with HomeKit is then forcing your gateway to try talking to the lights again, and then it works as it is updated in the gateway.
BTW, interesting wrinkle. Playing with HomeKit to get it to work only works when I’m local. It does not work when I’m remote. Go figure!
