K4003c on and off loop and hard reset

Hi,

I’ve recently installed two new K4003c switches. One is working fine, the other one is in a constant on and off loop according to Control app. Local support for Italy told me that this is a known issue and I have to wait for an updated firmware (now the version is 60). Since one is working ok and the other not, is there an hard reset procedure to try again? I have tried unpairing it and pairing it again but the issue persists. Thanks!

Hi again,

I asked the question to one of our Zigbee expert, here is his answer :

Our gateway is only on channel 11. our products are installed on all channels (imposed by the gateway)

Normally the risk of interference is very low excepted in these two cases:

 • His other channels are very loaded with products (fifty products and more)
 • He has an outside Zigbee protocol which uses the same frequency but does not respect the others. (permanent emission for example)

in this case it is necessary to switch its other hubs to other channels if possible.

For example there are some Wifi channels that overlap with the zigbee, and if continuous downloading is required in wifi it will cause zigbee latencies

He also provided me with a ChatGPT answer that could be useful : https://chatgpt.com/share/6751b502-f77c-8006-a0a7-e214ff9fe926

Hoping it could help 😉

Hello,
I recently completed the installation of a large Legrand smart home system in my home and wanted to share my feedback on the process. While I’m impressed with the hardware itself, the software and setup experience have been incredibly frustrating.

1. The Challenge of Updates and Pairing

Getting over 40-50 new switches (dimmer, scene, curtain) connected was a difficult starting point. I had to repeatedly put the gateway into pairing mode for it to recognize all the devices.
The bigger issue, however, is the firmware update system.

 • It’s Opaque:I have no way of knowing what the latest firmware version is, or when my devices will be updated. After a week, some of my switches are still on version 44, while I’ve learned from other users that the latest is 65.
 • It’s Unstable: The version mismatch makes the system behave erratically (lights turning on/off), which means I can’t even start configuring my scenes properly.
 • It’s Uncontrollable: I can’t force an update to fix the problem. Even completely removing, resetting, and re-pairing a switch doesn’t help—it just gets stuck waiting for an update again.

2. How Scene Switches Could Be Better

I was disappointed to find that I can’t assign specific lights to a specific scene switch. My expectation was to have a scene switch in my living room control only a few specific living room lights. Instead, the configuration seems to be global, which limited my options and meant I had to buy extra switches to get the control I wanted.

3. A Few Suggestions

 • LED Colors: I’ve noticed the switches can light up in different colors. It would be great if we could configure these colors in the app and not sure why this is not possible already.
 • System Backup: What happens if my bridge/gateway fails? I’m worried I would have to re-pair all 40+ switches from scratch. A backup and restore feature would provide much-needed peace of mind. If the gateway fails, the prospect of manually re-pairing over 40-50 devices is a significant deterrent to continuing with the system.

In conclusion, while the hardware quality is excellent, the user experience delivered by the software is frustrating and falls short of the standards I expect from Legrand. As a software engineer, I believe these issues are critical and need to be prioritized to make this a viable product for consumers, or I do not recommend it to anyone especially “regular” consumers.

Just as an update on my situation, in case it helps other community members:

I ended up moving the Legrand/Bticino devices to a dedicated Zigbee2Mqtt controller (channel 11) and happily controlling the devices via Home Assistant with absolutely no issues for the past six months. The only minor issue is that I had to manually set up the sources for the OTA updates.

The only real annoyance I found is that pairing requiring manual physical intervention on the devices and it is relatively frustrating, but it works, it’s just slightly problematic for devices like the 3584C ones, inside wall boxes or other hard to reach locations.

As a result I can finally get rid of the K4500C controller now!

During the process, with the exception of Leslie on this channel (thanks again for the help!), trying to communicate with Legrand on this issue proved to be a frustrating a poor experience, it took a while to get in touch and when it happened they were completely clueless, with no follow up on the actual issue.

If I had to do this again, I would still buy the devices (K4003c, K4531C, 4584C) as they are reliable (I ended up replacing one device out of 50+so far) and look great with the Bticino design, but I would go straight into the DIY route, avoiding wasting time with Legrand’s controller and app.

Cheers,

Alessandro
