Hello Leslie, Happy New Year !

I’ve been playing around with the new DALI devices F429D and F429G. While the D is pretty straight forward I have a question for the G ( Gateway ) module.

In my example setup with an EOS300 I am using a magnetic track with 4 DALI 2 DT8 lights , the F429G can see all of them and I can configure them, however only as independent lights, so for one track all 4 lights would appear as separate lights in the App.
Generally when dealing with addressable DALI controllers, you should be able to group DALI luminates  in order to control them as one, however I don’t see a way of doing this in Home+Project, apart of course from grouping them on a button, but they would still show separate in the APP which makes it impossible to control in sync.

Am I missing something or is this a upcoming feature ?

It was fast ! Here is the answer I got :

Hi, i confirm the idea, isn’t possible to control group of light from H + C. The only way to do this is to create a scenario that switch ON / OFF the group of lights. DALI lights are similiar to other scs lights so the function available on H + C are the same. The idea to control light group on H + C was already under investigation by marketing team, but i don’t know if will available or not in the future.

I asked the question to the Product Manager in charge of the roadmap. As far as I know it was a topic under consideration but I didn’t find any relevant information. I’ll tell you once I know more

Here is the answer from the PM :

“This feature is coming but it will not consume less SCS addresses

During configuration, each address of F429G corresponds to one SCS address, then in Home + Project you can configure one group (grouping more SCS addresses) and you will have a dedicated controller in Home + Control displaying the group of lights as a single light”

<p>Hi and thanks for bumping this topic, grouping is really essential for this module and for My Home, otherwise its usability is limited. <br /><br />I think what they mean is that each DALI address will still show as its own light in Home+Project consuming 1 SCS address and the gateway will not be utilizing DALI groups, but the new version will allow the grouping of different light channels to appear and act as one light. </p><p>For example we should be able to use all 4 outputs of a F411/4 module to work as one Light via grouping in Home+Project and the same should apply to the F429G module. <br />I read about this upcoming feature somewhere, but now can’t find where 😐 <br /><br />In any case, DALI groups would be ideal, but this should do the trick for now 🙂 </p>

<p>Just to let everybody know. It is now possible to select multiple DALI addresses for a single DALI dimmer in Home + Project.</p>
